Cornerstone Protestant Campus Ministry

Megan Nelsen, President

megannelsen@hotmail.com

Hello, I’m Megan Nelsen and I am a president  for Cornerstone.  I’m currently a Junior and I’m majoring in both Spanish and World History.  I recently returned from a semester in Spain, and while I was there I decided that I want to teach English to Spanish speaking children as a profession.  I joined Cornerstone my freshman year after participating in a mission trip to New Orleans to clean up after Hurricane Katrina.  I was receiving emails from Cornerstone for three months before I finally clicked one for volunteering in New Orleans. I should have clicked on an earlier email, because Cornerstone has been the greatest part of Ualbany for me.   It’s a network of friends, a faith-based organization, a place to relax and eat good food, and a place to be active in volunteering and serving your community all rolled into one!

Ana Simmons, Vice-President & Admin Assistant

Hi! My name is Anastasia Simmons, Ana for short, and I am a Co-Vice President this year and the Administrative Assistant in Cornerstone this year. I am a SeniorBiology major with a double minor in Chemistry and Political Science and hope to one day go into Environmental law. Cornerstone is a big part of my life as it provides me with an opportunity to explore my faith, hang out with friends, help out the community through volunteer opportunities, and of course eat something other than cafeteria food!

Madeleine Page, Co Vice President & Mission Coordinator

Multicultural Events:  Kareema Pinckney

Kareema is a junior at UA and is currently majoring in English and is minoring in Communications. She was baptized Catholic and grew up attending Catholic school. She cannot wait to get started this year to bring international students to Cornerstone and help Cornerstone further promote Christian diversity and unity. Cornerstone to her is a place where you can truly feel accepted just being who you are and have a chance to get to know fellow students who know exactly what you go through as a Christian.

Hi, my name is Billy Meredith, and I am one of the Co-Grad Coordinators of
Cornerstone this year. I graduated from UAlbany in May 2008 with a double
major in US History and French and am now working on my Masters in

Secondary Education here.  I hope to be a teacher and eventually a school

administrator some day. I have been a member and served as an officer of

Cornerstone since my freshman year of college, and have enjoyed every

minute of being in Cornerstone. We have a variety of great events,

programs, and people that will make your college experience all the more

memorable.  If you have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to

contact me!

Officer of the Cross:  Austin Powers

ap198216@albany.edu

Hey, my name's Austin Powers.  Okay, you stop laughing now, because really... it is.  When not in the 518 area, I'm back Syracuse, usually rocking out with my band or going to shows.  I'm going into my junior year as a history major here at UA with a minor in education, hopefully becoming a history teacher at the end of all this.  After a whole bunch of confusion my freshman year, both with me searching out for Cornerstone and Cornerstone (apparently) looking for me, I finally stumbled into Chapel House last fall for the first time... it was a good choice.  C-stone is a great place to just hang out with friends, joke around, eat a ton of food, make fun of Billy, and of course- a place to really delve into your faith and truly see where you stand with God.  As Officer of the Cross, I plan to do a variety of things at Cornerstone this year, including setting up fun outings and such for the group to do.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions, otherwise- see you all this year!
