Job Descriptions for Officers and Peer Ministers
Revised April 2010
Cornerstone Campus Ministry Officers
Cornerstone Officers job descriptions are described in the
Cornerstone Bylaws submitted as on file with UAlbany Student
Association.
The positions are volunteer.

Officers should attend Leadership Training and assist
with Freshman move-in days prior to the beginning of the
Semester (plan to arrive 2-3 days early; we’ll get
“early move in” approval for you from Res. Life)

Officers are required to attend either the SA Retreat at
the opening of the school year or Leadership 101 at some
time early in the first semester.

Each officer is also required to attend weekly e-board
meetings throughout the school year at a day and time
that is mutually agreed upon by the group.

Officers should be active members and participate in
weekly activities as well as special events.
The
President:

To conduct all
formal meetings of “CORNERSTONE-PSA”.
·
To oversee all
functions of “CORNERSTONE-PSA”.
·
To be responsible
for the representation of “CORNERSTONE-PSA” at
intra-intercollegiate functions.
·
To oversee the work
of special committees and sub-groups.
The
Vice President:
·
To assist the
President in completion of his/her duties
·
To act, if the need
arises, in the place of the President at functions sponsored
by and organized by “CORNERSTONE-PSA”
·
To represent
“CORNERSTONE-PSA” at Interfaith, Ecumenical and
Intercollegiate gathers in the absence of the President.
The
Secretary:
·
To record and
distribute minutes for all formal meetings.
·
To write
correspondence as requested by e-board
The
Treasurer:
·
To receive, hold,
disburse, and account for all funds of “CORNERSTONE-PSA”.
·
To develop an
annual budget in conjunction with the President and Vice
President.
Cornerstone Peer Ministers 2010-2011
If you are interested in one or a combination of two or
more, let Sandy know.

Peer Ministers should be
active members of
Cornerstone and are expected to regularly
participate in weekly events as well as the special events
planned by others.

Cornerstone Peer Ministers are
hired by the
Protestant Campus Minister in cooperation with the
Protestant Campus Ministry Board and supervised by the
Campus Minister
-
They are paid $10
per hour for their work; time sheets are submitted
at the end of each month and checks are available the
last day of the month.

Peer Ministers should
attend Leadership Training

Peer Ministers are
required to meet with the campus minister on a weekly
basis
for planning and mentoring

Peer Ministers are
invited but not required to attend weekly e-board
meetings; in the event they
are not able to attend, they should send a written
report to the Cornerstone President.
Administrative Assistant (2-3 hours per week)

Assist the Campus Minister with office and administrative
tasks
·
Assist with financial reports for the Protestant Campus
Ministry Board including entering information into Quicken
and producing reports as needed.
·
Assist with developing fliers in Publisher, getting them
approved by Student Life and posting on the podium when
necessary.
·
Must know Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel and be willing
to learn Quicken
Bible Study Leader (2 hours per week or every other week)
·
Select Bible Study curriculum in consultation with Campus
Minister
·
Select Day and Time for study
·
Develop publicity fliers and other tools for promoting
study; getting fliers approved and posting on podium as
necessary
·
Maintaining attendance records for group
·
Preparing lesson in advance
·
Leading Study (approx 1 hour)
·
Providing Refreshments (they will be purchased for you and
stored at Chapel House; you’ll just need to pick them up
each week)
·
Follow up with individual members as necessary.
Grad Student Coordinator - Theology on Tap (2-3 hours per
week or every other week)
·
Select Bible Study curriculum in consultation with Campus
Minister
·
Select Day and Time for study
·
Develop publicity fliers and other tools for promoting
study; getting fliers approved and posting on podium as
necessary
·
Maintaining attendance records for group
·
Preparing lesson in advance
·
Leading Study (approx 1 hour)
·
Follow up with individual members as necessary.
Mission Project Coordinator (hours vary)
·
Work with community groups and organizations to plan and
implement at least one mission/service project per month.
Past projects have included: AIDS Walk, Apple Picking
& Pie Baking for Interfaith, Regional Food Bank, Set up
Emergency Shelter, Bowl a Thon for Shelter, Habitat for
Humanity, CROP Walk, etc.

Post events on Facebook and encourage participation from
Cornerstone members as well as cooperation from other
student groups.
·
Also assist Campus Minister with planning and implementation
of Spring Break Service Trip.
Special Events Coordinator (hours vary)
·
Work with Campus Minister to develop and implement special
events such as corn maze, snow tubing, etc.)
·
Prepare fliers for events and post on podium and quads as
necessary
·
Order supplies and work with treasurer to submit SA vouches
if needed
Interfaith Coordinator (hours vary)
·
Work with Campus Minister to plan and implement “regular”
interfaith programs with other faith groups at Chapel House
and on campus (Hillel, Muslim Student Assocation, Newman,
etc.) including events such as “Breaking the Fast” for
Ramadan, annual Unity Dinner, Fall Cookout, Spring Cookout
and Karaoke.

Develop new interfaith events as needed.
·
Represent Cornerstone on the UAlbany Interfaith Council
·
Prepare fliers for events and post on podium and quads as
necessary
·
Order supplies and work with treasurer to submit SA vouches
if needed
Worship Assistant (1-2 hours per week)
·
Work with Campus Minister to select elements of weekly
worship service
·
Attend worship planning sessions and take notes
·
Design Power Point Presentation for Worship each week.
·
Make copies of readings, prayers, etc. for student
participation and recruit volunteers to assist.
·
Maintain schedule for “greeter” at worship
Congregational Partner Liaison (hours vary)
·
Work with Campus Minister to plan and host congregational
partner breakfast meetings 2 times per semester including
calling partners in advance to invite them and encourage
RSVP.
·
Work with Campus Minister to schedule visits to local
congregations to lead worship and do mission trip
presentations
·
Assist Campus Minister and work with Officers to plan and
implement fund-raisers that target congregations (i.e Bake
Sales)
·
Assist Campus Minister in maintaining a current list of
congregational partners and reps from each congregation.
